Let’s Set the Records Straight Democrats Not Republicans Championed Civil Rights

For months, the Republican Party has become known as the Party of "No", a deliberate strategy to block meaningful legislation in order to bring down the Democratic Party, especially President Barack Obama. Remember Republican Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina called to fellow Republicans: "Kill the Health Care Bill and it will be Obama's Waterloo." Well, Gerald E. Smith, from all indications a Republican, has added another strategy to the Republicans' playbook: Full Story........

Jim Crow Policing

The New York City Police Department needs to be restrained. The nonstop humiliation of young black and Hispanic New Yorkers , including children, by police officers who feel no obligation to treat them fairly or with any respect at all is an abomination. That many of the officers engaged in the mistreatment are black or Latino themselves is shameful. Statistics will be out shortly about the total number of people who were stopped and frisked by the police in 2009. We already have the data for the first three quarters of the year, and they are staggering. During that period, more than 450,000 people were stopped by the cops, an increase of 13 percent over the same period in 2008 Full Story..........

I personally know some of the members of BSVAC and I hope to stay in contact with them as they do their humanitarian work. I have offered to help them in any way that I can Full Story........

Are They That Sick?

By Junious Ricardo Stanton

“The military has had about twenty years to work on weather warfare methods, which it euphemistically calls weather modification. For example, rainmaking technology was taken for a few test rides in Vietnam. The U.S. Department of Defense sampled lightning and hurricane manipulation studies in Project Skyfire and Project Stormfury. And they looked at some complicated technologies that would give big effects Full Story .......

NAACPSells Out Civil Rights to Net Neutrality

By Glen Ford

Without the effective right to communicate with one's fellow humans, all other rights disappear. In opposing internet neutrality in return for corporate telecom money, the NAACP and other so-called civil rights groups have committed an unforgivable “theft of the people's trust.” “The NAACP and the League of United Latin American Citizens have aligned themselves with the likes of Verizon, AT&T and Comcast.” Full Story .......
