Minister Deltra Jeanine Barthell Lundy

Minister Deltra Jeanine Barthell Lundy of 623 Winn Street, Americus, Georgia died Wednesday, January 11, 2018 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus,  Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at  Staley Memorial Garden in Americus, Georgia.

Minister Deltra Jeanine Barthell Lundy was born October 20, 1969 at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, Alabama. She was born to Mr. Johnny Barthell, Sr. and Mrs. Barbara J. Harrison Barthell.

She was a 1988 graduate of Americus High School. While in high school, she was an active participant in FBLA and SGA. She was also inducted in Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She played guard on the   Americus High School Basketball Team and ran track from 1984-88.

Acknowledging the Lord, Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, she united with Power of Faith Deliverance Church. An ordained minister, she enjoyed worshipping the Lord and fellowshipping with the people of God. She especially loved Lakel and her church family.

A Certified Nursing Assistant, Deltra had been employed by Magnolia Manor and Lillian Carter Nursing Home. She also worked at U. S. Beauty Mart, where she was affectionately known as “Ms. D. the Candy Lady.”

On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, our beloved transitioned from life to life eternal at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. Johnny and Mrs. Essie Lee Barthell and Mr. James and Mrs. Annie Ruth Harrison. She is also preceded in death by her aunt, Mrs. Mary Forbes.

Many wonderful memories are left to her loving and caring son, Mr. Lakel Barthell of Americus, Georgia; her loving and devoted parents, Mrs. Barbara H. Barthell of Americus, Georgia and Mr. Johnny (Beverly) Barthell, Sr. of Riverdale, Georgia; her sisters, her twin, Ms. Deirdra Barthell of Americus, Georgia, Mrs. Shawn (Charles) Muff of Richland, Georgia, Ms. Vanessa Walker of Americus, Georgia, Ms. Michelle Cladd of Somerset, NJ, Ms. Yvette Cladd of North Brunswick, NJ, and Ms. Shahidah Pates of Stockbridge, Georgia; her brothers, MSgt. Dequan Barthell, USAF of Hungary and Mr. Johnny Barthell, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; her aunts and uncles, a devoted aunt, Ms. Delores Terry of Americus, Georgia, Mrs. Frances Jean (Walter) Manners of Athens, Georgia, Mrs. Minnie (Reverend Bennie) Clark, Mrs. Gloria (Willie) English, Mrs. Marsha (Reverend Robert) Angrish and Ms. Trellish Barthell all of Americus, Georgia, Ms. Lenora (Larry) Harrison, Mr. Vernon (Marlyn) Harris, and Mr. Allan Harris all of Omaha, Nebraska, Mr. Russell Harrison of Los Angeles, California, and Mr. Gregory Barthell of Durham, North Carolina; her nieces and nephews, Skylla (Bruce) Barthell of Richland, Georgia, Allen Barthell of Americus, Georgia, Johnny (Alexis) Fuller, Jr. of Miami, Florida, James Burton, III of Norfolk, Virginia, Hayden Williams and Jazmyn Williams both North Brunswick, NJ, Ty’andra Hare of Somerset, Virginia, Deja Barthell, Dene Barthell, Bryaney Barthell, Dakaria Pates and Saadiyah Pates all of Atlanta, Georgia, and Xavier Cladd of Fort Leonard Wood, MD; her special “mothers & father,” Ms. Rosa White, Dr. Oneida Wade Ingram, Mrs. Ruby Snipes and Ms. Dorothy Crenshaw Perkins all of Americus,   Georgia, Ms. Gwendolyn Kimbrough Purvis of Tampa, Florida, and Ms. Hannah Asberry & Family of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mr. Ronnie Thompson of Ellaville, Georgia; her devoted great nieces and great nephews, Zaniyah Christmas, Aailyah Terry, Cameron Stephenson, and Kadem Fuller; her   devoted godchildren, Keion Lundy of Richland, Georgia, Donta Walton, Kem Jordan, Cornelious Colwell, Deontray Parker, Demain Pollard, and Jaron Griffin all of Americus, Georgia; her special boyfriend/husband, Mr. Karzell Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends including, Minister Kelvin Lundy and Mr. Brian Bailey.



Brandon and Quina Morgan celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary on March 7.


Coleman Price was recently chosen as the ASHS Teacher of the Month for January 2018.
