LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY ® If Jesus Says, “Yes…”

Apr 26, 2018 | April2018 |

“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.” {1 Corinthians 16:9}

I respect science. But science has nothing on the wisdom of God. The law regarding electric current states that current will flow through the path of least resistance. Unfortunately, many of us have adopted that ideal and look for this Christian walk to be smooth and easy. However, the Bible tells us differently. We are told to expect persecution, distress, and obstacles. As the song says, “He never said that the road would be easy…” No, this Christian walk is often anything but smooth and easy.

In the letter to the Corinthian church, Paul sent an important message that we must remember. We often ask God to open doors of opportunity for us. But many times, we misjudge His doors because we expect something different. How many times do we judge it based upon the Word’s criteria: adversaries! Yes, adversaries. If there is no adversity on the path that you’re traveling, I would suggest that you consider if you’re actually on the wide path that leads to destruction. The narrow path that God has for us is full of snakes, scorpions, and all kind of “deadly” objects.

The Bible tells us not to think that adversity is strange. The Word also tells us that, many times, our greatest blessings are in the very presence of our enemies. David said that God prepares a table before us when we’re among enemies. He provides rest and peace-even in the midst of trouble. He is the water that refreshes and refuels us in desert lands. Jesus is our all in all. So when you ask for an open door, and Jesus says, “Yes,” pull up your sleeves and get ready for battle.

Be encouraged. The Word says that God Himself has opened up the doors to opportunities. That means that the gateways to blessings cannot be closed or manipulated by men. It’s not in their hands. Who is stronger than God? Who is more powerful than Him? No one is. But the devil will surely send those that try and block the door or try to harass you enough to get you to doubt that it’s God’s design for you in the first place. But those are just tricks of the enemy.

When there is adversity, take courage! KNOW that you are certainly on the right track. And when your enemies sidle up beside you, put on their best smile, and try to stab you in the back, just kick back, relax, and
smile. First, thank them for confirming that you’re on the right track after all. And then bless them because they will need it. After all, it’s a righteous thing with God to repay those that come against you. Whew! Aren’t you glad you’re on the side of the Lord?

Stay focused. Stay steadfast. And, most importantly, stay your course! Keep on keeping on…Blessings!

“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it…” {Rev. 3:8}

“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords and King of kings: and they that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” {Rev. 17:14}

“Therefore, my brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” {I Cor. 15:58}
