Why Are Republicans Screaming So Loud About Healthcare Now

We have tolerated George W Bush and his Republican Party members who never opposed him on anything. We Democrats had to grit our teeth and bare it. We watched in horror as Bush started two wars and cut taxes on the richest 1% of Americans. We didn't even know how much those wars were costing us. We had to endure Dick Cheney and his Haliburton hustlers who made $billions off of the Iraq war. There was no cry from the Republicans about the huge deficit that they were running up that would saddle our grandchildren. Then they lied about Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction.
Now, we are hearing very loud and shrill Republican outcries about the increase spending by President Barack Obama. When Obama was sworn in he was burdened with the huge deficits and the mismanagement of our economy by Republicans who were in control. Bush presented America with a big stimulus package and Obama had to come in and work with the Bush bailout. In eight months he has calmed wall street and stocks are soaring, the housing crisis in improving, some banks are repaying the bailout money, and now the unemployment rate declined in July.
We wonder why the Republicans have so much to say now that president Obama is managing the economy like a professional. Why should anyone listen to the very people who wrecked the American economy and ran it into a ditch. The old saying is so true, "empty wagons make the most noise." Republicans and their Blue Dog Democrat counterparts need to be quiet and watch and learn from the genius of president Obama and the progressive Democrats. We observed the genius of president Bill Clinton and the Democrats in the 90's which produced the greatest economy, with a huge surplus, over 20 million new jobs, and all in a time of peace.
The health care bill with the public option is critically needed in order to save our economy. It is so sad that the Republicans are screaming and kicking against a health care plan that will free up businesses from having to provide insurance for their employees and to keep families from going bankrupt because of medical crises. It is shameful how Republicans dismiss over 43 million Americans who do not have access to medical care in our great country. And in the 16 years of Republican rule, we didn't hear one thing about health insurance for the millions of Americans with none.
Our publisher is a medical doctor and he has countless examples of insurance companies denying his patients their medications, certain medical procedures, and even hospitalizations. It was the Republicans who voted to protect the insurance companies from lawsuits if they refuse to follow a physician's orders and the patient dies or is permanently injured. Our Democrats did not have the votes during the Bush presidency with a Republican majority in congress to make the insurance companies pay if they call the shots in the care of patients. Furthermore, many elected officials receive big money from the insurance companies and are not biting the hand that feeds them.
The insurance companies are spending $1.4 million a day to fight the Democrat's health plan. They have recruited many conservative Republicans to go to town hall meeting to disrupt conversations on the health plan. The polls show that over 70% of Americans want a health plan with a public option. The Democrats will pass the plan with or without the help of Republicans or the Blue Dog Democrats.
We urge our readers to contact your congressmen and ask them to support the Obama health plan with the public option.
