ASHS Recognizes Teacher Of The Month
Mrs. Nancy Green was recently chosen as the Americus-Sumter High Teacher of the Month for December 2017. Each month one ASHS teacher is selected to receive this award for exhibiting exemplary service to students, parents, and coworkers. Assistant Principal Todd Vickery presented Mrs. Green with the award during a ceremony in the ASHS library last week.
Mrs. Green has taught culinary arts for more than a decade at both the high school and college level. Green learned to cook from her mother and grandmother, and saw cooking as an activity that provided “a way for family to bond and become
closer. And now I can pass on what I have learned. I am so happy to get to share my skills and passion for cooking with my students,” said Green.
In addition to teaching the Culinary Arts class, Mrs. Green also prepares and hosts catering functions for the school on a regular basis. She is well known in the community for her expertise in the kitchen. “Mrs. Green has helped to grow our Culinary Arts program by exposing students to catering and cooking opportunities for large group functions. Our students and school appreciate the initiatives Mrs. Green has given to enhance the Culinary Arts program,” said Kimothy Hadley, principal of Americus-Sumter High.
