Miss Seay, the daughter of the late Mr Frank Seay, Sr and the late Mrs
Rebecca Meyers Seay was born in Lumpkin, Georgia. She was the first born of
five children, two preceded her in death (Frank Seay, Jr and Leonard Richard
Seay).
Her family moved to Americus when she was young. She attended McKay Hill
School, Americus, Georgia, Georgia Normal College, Albany, Georgia where she
completed high school and junior college. She earned her Bachelor of Science
Degree in Elementary Education at Georgia State College, Savannah, Georgia
(now Savannah State University) 1947. Further work was done at Atlanta
University.
Miss Seay joined Big Bethel Baptist Church, Americus, Georgia at an early
age and was a faithful member to the end. She attended Sunday School,
B.Y.P.U., regular worship and services. She enjoyed working with the East
Side Mission and the Progressive Club, where she served as treasurer for a
number of years.
Miss Trixie, as she was affectionately called, taught in the Sumter County
Schools (Gatewood, Staley School, and Southeast until her retirement in
1982.
She enjoyed life with her family and friends, especially fishing, driving
her Jeep, traveling throughout the United States (to family and school
reunions, and sightseeing). Outside of the U.S. she visited Cuba, Canada,
and in 1995 she had the thrill of her life when she, along with her sisters
(Tiny and Thelma) joined a group of Baptists and visited the Holy Land. They
were baptized in the Jordan River by Reverend Cameron Alexander, former
president of the Georgia State Baptist Convention.
Miss Seay was a lovable, sweet person who touched the lives of many people.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Her funeral is planned for Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Big Bethel Church,
1330 North Jackson Street, Americus, Georgia.
She is survived by her devoted sisters, Miss Thelma F Seay and Mrs Tiny Seay
Davis, Americus, Georgia, a nephew, Frank Seay III, (Brenda) Atlanta,
Georgia, Miss Olivia J Seay, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a grand nephew, Eric
David Seay, U.S. Army, step nieces: Ms Delores Bell, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, Mrs Bernadette Farrior, Trenton, New Jersey, and Ms Darlene
Mincy, Burlington, New Jersey. A host of cousins, step grand nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
