America in Peril
By FinalCall.com Editorial
It has been five years since top Bush administration officials successfully pushed the country into war. Dedicated to the prospect of remaking the Middle East and protecting Israel, these neo-conservative thinkers hatched a plot to invade Iraq, regardless of whom or what.
An analysis of the most recent U.S. Department of Justice data, which is from 2006, determined one in nine Black males between 20 and 34 is behind bars. But Black men aren’t the only ones being locked up: “For Black women in their mid- to late-30s, the incarceration rate also has hit the one-in-100 mark. In addition, one in every 53 adults in their 20s is behind bars; the rate for those over 55 is one in 837,” according to a report from the Pew Center on the States’ Public Safety PerformanceProject.
Blackening Barack Obama
By Ron Walters
What I’m wondering right now is why none of the other candidates for president have been held to account for the sermons of their pastors. It’s not like the other instances where John McCain’s surrogate pastor was speaking for the campaign when he went off the deep end pronouncing Barack Obama’s full name repeatedly, or Geraldine Ferraro, former chair of Hillary Clinton’s campaign finance committee, who said that Obama would not be where he is were he not Black. No, I could not find any instance where Trinity United Church of Christ or the Rev. Jeremiah Wright was connected to the campaign. So, the media, especially Fox TV, where Hannity and Combs began this witch hunt last year, by calling Trinity a “cult” has found Obama guilty by association. Why?
"Let us deal wisely with them"
This is not about Bill Bennett’s comments on how to reduce the crime rate by aborting Black babies. That’s just the refurbishing of an old tactic used by the "Pharaoh" of the Bible (Exodus 1:10). It seems that finally the devil is "showing his teeth". This is not about Hurricane Katrina, "Bush’s Monica". However, the lack of response by the federal government to the needs of poor Black people in New Orleans could be compared to her lack of response to the cries of Black farmers for years.
A friend of mine forwarded an article to me about county jails in Alabama. It seems that Alabama sheriffs may keep, for their personal use and pleasure, leftover food money after feeding prisoners at the county jails, the Alabama attorney general has ruled. The opinion, issued March 17, offered guidance on the controversial practice of sheriff's keeping whatever is left over from the $1.75 a day per prisoner the state of Alabama pays sheriffs to provide food in the jails.

Times Recorder Refused to Publish $24 Million Lawsuit Against Sumter Regional Hospital
The daily newspaper in Americus, GA is the Americus Times Recorder (TR). Our newspaper, the AmericUSumter Observer, has exposed their selective reporting numerous times when it comes to certain well connected individuals or entities. When our publisher sued Sumter Regional Hospital in 2001, the local TR newspaper refused to publish any positive news that was given to them about our publisher, Dr John Marshall. However, they jumped to report any news that supported the hospital positively. When the lawsuit against Dr Marshall was resolved, the TR did not report anything about it. Similarly, the recent news of a young man winning a judgment for $24 million because of malpractice at Sumter Regional Hospital (SRH) was never published in the Times Recorder. This is because the hospital's business relationship with the only daily newspaper in Americus, has given SRH protection from any negative news even if the negative news is the truth.
