Pearlette Brooks and her brother Bob need help

Bob Fuse, brother of Andrea Pearlette Fuse Brooks, verbally threatened the publisher of the AmericuSumter Observer at the Civil Rights Struggles Remembrance program Sept. 7. Apparently Fuse was upset because the Observer informed the citizens of his sister's voting record for White causes and her flat refusal to support black causes. The publisher of the Observer, Dr John Marshall said, "Mr. Fuse looked like he would blow a fuse, as he was breathing hard and shouted threatening remarks in front of witnesses." Marshall said that Fuse said, "You are going to leave her [Ms. Brooks] alone, you know why you are going to leave her alone because I am going to kick your a___"

Who is Bob Fuse? Fuse taught in the Sumter County School system (SCSS) in the Alternative School for problem children. Our sources report that he was one of the worst teachers at that school and was once considered for superintendent SCSS. Similar reports on his sister Pearlette Brooks too. She has been removed or encouraged to leave almost every school where she taught. Teachers have alleged that Brooks frequently cried in the classroom when she was embarrassed by advanced students that she struggled to teach. And lately we have been told that Commissioner Brooks struggles with her reading on a local Sunday morning radio show.

It is a mystery that Mr. Fuse would lose his composure at the Civil Rights program that had so many real advocates for Blacks while he and his sister are complete opposites as they are what the civil rights community would call, "Uncle Toms." Only a few feet away from this disgraceful display by a purported educator was the infamous Congressman John Lewis. We don't think John Lewis heard the foolish outburst by Bob Fuse who was in defense of his equally foolish sister.

Where do we get these so-called educated Black people who teach in our school system? It is very difficult to advance as a Black race when people like Bob and Pearlette touch the minds of our young people. Neither one of them would have attacked a White racist who is out to destroy our people. Instead, Commissioner Pearlette Brooks voted to give the Confederates a "Month of Celebration." If Bob Fuse wants to scream at somebody, go after the real perpetrators of death and destruction of Black people. Instead, he goes after the former president of the NAACP, publisher of a Black newspaper, and a family physician in Americus, GA. As weak educators, these siblings are part of the reason why there are so many problems in our school system.

Our newspaper wants the citizens of Sumter County to know these Uncle Toms who love to sit in positions of power and sell us out for nothing. As a minister and an educator, one would think that Commissioner Brooks would adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ concerning the poor. But she is someone who God will have to deal with in His own time. As for her belligerent brother, he truly needs Jesus. We think it is too late for him. May God have mercy on both of their souls.
